The International Sport Connection Instructors arrived in Lira, Northern Uganda after a 6-hour journey on Saturday, May 5th.  Lira Integrated School was founded by 2010 United Nations EMPRETEC Women in Business award winner and 2011 U.S. Embassy “Women of Courage” award winner Ayuru Beatrice Byaruhanga, who will be sharing her knowledge with the participants throughout the week.

The American Delegation was warmly welcomed to the village this past weekend and they began the registration process of over 200 coaches and over 400 children.  By the end of Sunday, May 6th there was a celebration on the courts of Lira Integrated.  Over 800 community members joined in welcoming the Americans to Uganda!

Ugandan basketball coaches and players are looking forward to an action packed week of youth coach training with on the court instruction and classroom lectures.  ISC will prepare participants to effectively teach, train, manage, and mentor children and youth and it is funded by SportsUnited, a division of the U.S. Department of State.
